School Closure

This letter is to inform our school community that FMS will not be in session on Wednesday, January 12th, Thursday, January 13th and Friday, January 14th. This school closure is due to the number of sick staff and students at our school building. Flu, strep, upper respiratory and Covid are all to blame. We are NOT going to do distance learning on these 3 days. We are going to use our inclement weather/ districtwide sick day bank for these 3 days. We are out of school on Monday, January 17th for Martin Luther King Holiday, so this will give us 5 days to get our students, their families and our staff healed up to continue learning when we return in person on Tuesday, January 18th. No PTO activities at the school site during our school closure.

During this time, FMS will be doing a deep clean of our facility. We do a great job of preventive measures, but since we will be out, our contracted cleaning crew will be doing a thorough deep clean of all manipulatives, doors, and environment in our buildings for the safe return to school. By doing a short closure during this time, we feel this will eliminate us to have a need for a long period of Distance Learning in the future. We are making this decision for our family’s needs as well.

Our ultimate goal is to provide quality and effective instruction to our students in a safe environment. We feel that in person school is the most effective way to provide this and by making this preventive decision now, we can ultimately prevent from being out for long terms of school on sight. Our main priority is the safety of our students and staff and look forward to continuing to provide that any way we can.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Dax Trent

Goal met!!!

The Book Fair has come to an end and I am excited to report that we exceded our goal of $9000 in sales! We ended with $10,500 in sales, that's 1,313 books sold!!! The school will receive $5,247 in Scholastic Dollars!
Thank you to all of my volunteers this year, you are ALL TRULY AMAZING! Also, thank you parents and grandparents for helping your student shop at the fair. We wouldn't have been able to do this without your support!

Congratulations!!!

Students participated in the 2021 Law Day contest. Nearly 1,300 students from around the state entered the contest. Participants were asked to draw a picture that showed their understanding of the Criminal Justice System. We are so very proud to announce that out of the 1,300 submissions, 2 of Flower Mound Students were not only published, but they placed First and Second!!
Both students are in Mrs. Coleman's Pre-K class, Brecklyn Smith (1st place), and Finn Carson (2nd Place).
We are so proud of you Brecklyn and Finn!!!

Mr. Rocky- Spotlight Story

GREAT NEWS!!!
Wanted to share with our school family that one of our own got great recognition for their commitment to our students (your children) during the pandemic learning from end of last year and this year. Mr. Flint has shown that relationships and connection with his students was a focus point for him during these times. Thinking outside the box and going the extra mile for the social health of our students to see familiar faces during the shutdown was truly accomplished by his sacrifice. Our Specials classes are highly important for our student body. Great job sir!!!

Clever Family Portal

As I'm sure many of you have noticed, we have started using Clever this year. Clever is an online "hub" that holds all of your student's commonly used school websites, and their passwords. The point of this is to make things a bit easier on students, parents, and teachers. They will no longer need to keep up multiple usernames and passwords. Recently, all students have had to keep up with is their QR code. Now, to make things even easier on parents and students, we have sent you an invite to join the family portal by Clever. This tool will make it possible for students to sign into clever without their QR codes. Signing up is easy, just click on the link you were sent, via text or email, and follow the steps. Students will also be bringing home a "how to" flyer, which is also included here...just click above!
